Belvedere Update 13
A couple photos of the stone going up. This is a big step in the exterior of the project. The site work and retaining walls use the thin stone and all the building stone is full depth stone. This allowed use to keep the wall thickness at something more reasonable since a lot of the retaining walls, like the one pictured below, are quite high and have a lot of reinforcing. What is difficult to see in this photo and the one below is actually where the finished grade will be.
Besides being a lovely fall photo of the view of the lake this might be one of the clearest ways to show what the finished grade will be at the house. You can see below that the concrete foundation walls are partially covered by block now. That block will support the stone as it is already right on the other side of the arcade. The grade will slope up to a point 6-12″ above the top of that block. For now though they have created a flat area at the base of the wall for the mason to set up his scaffolding and stage the stone.
As we get into the smaller more detail oriented part of the project things are going to move a little slower and we’ll likely have fewer updates on this particular project. Keep checking in though because we’ve got a couple other projects that are just about to start construction.
