6109 Residence Update 5

It is done! Ok from this view it doesn't look any different from the last time other than the grass but keep scrolling!  The final coat of paint is on and the light fixtures installed. The aluminum and glass overhead doors are installed and hooked up. We went with a jackshaft operator in order to keep the space as open as possible and it also reduces the noise significantly. They were able to get a great finish on the...

6109 Residence Update 4

We're almost there! The new drive is in. We were able to expand it enough to comfortable have two cars side by side without negatively affecting the existing tree. The house from the front doesn't look very different, though we did put in a new post and repair ther trim there. As you move around the side you can really see the length of the addition. We don't think it really looks like a garage though, especially with all...

Belvedere Update 30

This might not be the most exciting for everybody but the garage floor is finally in and the last bay of the garage has been closed in. The walls and ceiling have been spray foamed and are ready for drywall. This is one of the last big things that has been left open since the third bay of the garage was our only access to the back of the site. Another big step under way is the laying of the Wausau...

324 Residence Complete!

Most people think that moving walls is a big deal even when it isn’t. These clients were not those people. There is hardly a wall that wasn’t moved, modified or removed altogether as we turned a cramped and divided starter house with an illegal car port into an open, bright and comfortable home with a large 2 car garage. Having reluctantly moved to the suburbs 22 years ago, they were ready to downsize and eager to get back to sights...

324 Residence 5

Another long post with a bunch of updates, we'd rather make a long post and not string things along when progress is happening and there is cool stuff to see! There is a lot of exterior work to be done on the new and the existing. Much of the existing brick and stone around the entry wasn't in great shape and needed to be repaired and replaced. The big area is around that arch at the screen porch. The have...

324 Residence 4

We are at that point in the project where things seem to slow down. Electrical and plumbing is moving along but not a whole lot changing from the exterior. The only exciting news is the new window installation. Along with the windows there is also the skylights. For the first time you can see why we really wanted to add the pair of skylights over the stair to the second floor. Not only does it let a lot of...

324 Residence 2

The last post covered some of the variance process, now we can get into the project a little more. Below is the same rendering. The biggest change to the exterior of the house is this addition that is made up of two garage bays with storage and the expansion of an existing bedroom above. We felt it was important to break the mass of the garage down from the street side. Not only does this make it more pedestrian scaled but...

6135 Studio

This project in theBrookside area involved replacing a worn out detached 2 car garage with a new 2 car garage along side an art studio. The parameters of the design for the studio/garage were the clients request to have everything on one level, the context of the neighborhood and the confines of the rear yard of the lot. The new driveway and sidewalk help define the planting bed that will bring some ‘green’ back into the back yard.  ...
