C2 Residence Update 2

Here we are over at C2 again already! Things are moving fast as we sit less than a week away from christmas as I'm writing this. Paint color was selected and paint and trim are up with the exception of the flat stock around the windows. The house is filled with activity with the painters, Karl the cabinet guy, the audio video guys installing and programming the audio and install the brakets and cables for the tv. Oh yeah, Dustin...

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays from RDM Architecture! We'd had another busy year and worked on everything from sculpture to furniture, from existing houses to new houses. We gotten to know some great clients and helped them to realize their dreams of equally great projects. We love what we do here at RDM and we couldn't do it without all the clients and collaborators that make it possible.  We wish you a safe, warm and fun-filled holiday season and best wishes for...

C2 Residence Update

This project has been zooming along with the hope of finishing it in time for some holiday houseguests. Ian says he never likes to promise projects will be finished around the holidays but he seems to have done it yet again and as we get closer (these pictures are from last week, we've been busy) It looks like it is going to be possible. Windows are all in and the new drywall is in an mudded. The amount of light...

New Project – C2 Residence

A new project that we're excited about is under construction and we haven't gotten around to posting anything about it so this post is image-filled and for the sake of clarity this post is divided into the different little parts of the larger project.  Starting with the Kitchen. The existing kitchen? Not great and the giant mass above the range is an overpowering and not very efficient use of space. Getting rid of that was priority number 1 (in the...

Stair Rail

We love to work on projects of every scale here and this is a perfect example of a smaller scale project and another successful collaboration with Pascal at Meya Metalworks. The existing steel tube railings didn't match the style of the house and didn't meet code (also they were ugly). We came up with some preliminary design ideas and then worked with Pascal to come up with a final design and details. The client collects classic sports cars and...

Belvedere Update 35

We've posted these on our Facebook page but in case you haven't seen them or your like a bit more description, here we go! Here are two views of the arcade from the exterior. There is a lot of landscaping that still needs to be done and the driveway and walks are still a giant hole. The house itself is pretty much done and the clients have moved in and love the way it turned out and how the light...

Deck + _ 3

The outdoor kitchen was expanded during construction, adding the leg to the straight run to give them a little more space for cooking and seating. The stucco and the cut stone top are in. Looks awesome. A shot of the large arch, now in stucco as well as the columns. The deck and the trim are mostly installed and the rail is the next major part. With the dry-below system we are able to have a finished ceiling...

Belvedere Update 34

More progress on the exterior. The pool is filled and the rest of the plantings are in.  The path to the dining room has also been fully planted, including between the pavers. This is going to look even better as those start to fill in. Another view of the patio showing how dense the plantings are and a hint of the great view. Gutters (copper half-round) and downspouts are in, as is the exterior lighting and the screens....

Belvedere Update 33

It hasn't been that long but things are cruising now so here are even more pictures! We'll start with the interior.  First thing you notice going into the house is this incredible waterjet cut natural stone medallion installed in what is already a beautiful floor. You can see a bit of the stair, one of the only things that haven't been stained and finished. There is a custom curved piece mahogany that we are waiting on before the final trim...

Belvedere Update 32

Progress, progress, progress! Grading and plantings and lower retaining walls are coming together as we get closer to the finish line. The outdoor spaces are going to be incredible on this project. This house is all about views of the lake and the many outdoor spaces let them enjoy them from those views from throughout the site. More outdoor spaces below. The outdoor kitchen and the courtyard outside the dining room complete the outdoor part of the project. ...
