Belvedere Update 31

Belvedere keeps moving forward! Site work continues and little by little the piles of material are getting smaller. The third bay of the garage is ready for stucco and the adjacent retaining wall is done. Final colored coat of stucco is on and looks great. The screen porch is stuccoed as well and the screen frames and wood paneling will finish off that side of the house. The wrought iron railings on the adjacent deck are in and now the roofing...

Custom Steel Railings

Took a trip down to Pascal's shop to check up on progress on a little railing project we are doing. Fabrication is well under way and the railings are looking great. All welded from steel tub and solid bar these are heavy and very sturdy. They are connected to the wall with a beautiful little bracket we worked with Pascal to design but you'll have to wait to see those until the end. On the bottom right is the template...

Belvedere Update 30

This might not be the most exciting for everybody but the garage floor is finally in and the last bay of the garage has been closed in. The walls and ceiling have been spray foamed and are ready for drywall. This is one of the last big things that has been left open since the third bay of the garage was our only access to the back of the site. Another big step under way is the laying of the Wausau...

Belvedere Update 29

Another site visit and few new pictures. The trees are greening up and the house is getting harder to see but here is the view from the road. It is difficult to see but most of the railings are in, and the stone is pretty much done on this side. The cast stone tile is in for the upper terrace. There is a lot of it. They are waiting on a few trim pieces and then install of that stone can...

Belvedere Update 28

It hasn't been long since we've had a post about Belvedere but we've got a few cool images we thought were worth sharing. This is the tower ceiling now complete with LED lighting and giant chandelier. The lighting makes a huge difference and the finish is incredible. A small electric winch is concealed in one of the beams allowing the light to be lowered to the first floor for lightbulb changes. Pretty neat. The plaster work on the underside of the helical...

6718 Residence Completed!

We've posted extensively about this project as we've encountered some interesting snags along the way. I won't cover all that but here are the links to the previous posts if you are just starting to follow along or if like us, it has been long enough that you don't remember everything that's happened that a look at the following: Intro, 1, 2, 3, 4. We'll wait while you check out those other links...

324 Residence Complete!

Most people think that moving walls is a big deal even when it isn’t. These clients were not those people. There is hardly a wall that wasn’t moved, modified or removed altogether as we turned a cramped and divided starter house with an illegal car port into an open, bright and comfortable home with a large 2 car garage. Having reluctantly moved to the suburbs 22 years ago, they were ready to downsize and eager to get back to sights...

Belvedere Update 26

Another Belvedere post! We are now into the finished stuff. The stone front porch with brick edge is done as is the water element next to it. There is some beautiful stone work just on these two parts and they make a great introduction to the house. The stone fireplace install continues. The hardest part is done. The main mantel is one large piece and weighs around 1800 lbs. It was rolled into place using rigging and a cart made from...

5400 Residence 5

Here we are at present day! Trim is complete, the arbor is just about done with the exception of a few small pieces as is the siding and the doors and windows. It is looking great and with the nice weather, hopefully we can get it painted and mostly wrapped up. The interior is ready for paint and trim. In the photos below you can see the operable platform and it's opening in the loft storage space. Operated by...
