Phosphor Update 2

We met up with the Phosphor Interactive guys last week for lunch and to check up on the project. A lot has happened since we were last down there but we really wanted to highlight the metal work that our buddy Pascal at Meya Metalworks has done over there. During construction, in order to create some more headroom on the second floor we removed a number of existing bar joists. At the time we thought these things were great and that...

6718 Residence Update 6

We wanted to get some more photos up here this weekend of this project because it is coming along so well and looks fantastic. Both of these images are of the front of the house. The master closet addition and the 3rd garage. If it wasn't for the fresh cedar shingles you would never know these parts haven't always been there. From the back of the house the garage becomes a part of the entertaining space. Our intent was...

5209 Residence 2

A quick update on the 5209 residence. All of the masonry work is complete and as you can see below they've got a pretty good start on the new entry piece. The grade at the back of the wall will be lifted quite a bit more and then feathered out to the middle of the yard. There is some backfill to do still around the drive but for the most part it is done! Another view of the new...

Belvedere Update 18

Things out at Belvedere are moving along. Below you can see the formwork for the pool/ waterfall/ spa. This will be sprayed concrete and the stone and tile over that. It was a big change from the original plans but the shape is pretty nice and it will be a big asset on this huge patio. Stone work is in on the arcade and the wall below is done. The masons deserve a round of applause. It looks better...

1232 Residence Update 11

Another RDM kitchen project wrapped up last month. This one very different from the last post below in style but it turned out great and has some pretty cool things going on. The cabinets are traditional in style and finished with a simple off-white paint. We were limited by an existing dining room wall and the stair to the basement so we had to work within the existing shell. We made some changes to get an additional couple feet of...

6718 Residence Update 4

The mild winter weather has allowed the construction to move quickly.  The Master Closet is primed and ready to paint.  With all of the structure exposed, the detailing in the screened porch has been challanging but Hurst Construction has been doing a great job. The photo on the left shows the jig needed to make the cuts in the top of the posts where the rafters will sit.  ...

KCH&G Photoshoot

Keep an eye out in upcoming KCH&G issues for some photos of our project.  Rick and I went out during the photoshoot to take a look at the finished and furnished project. The clients are incredibly happy with the end result and have transforned (with our help) a stark and dated place into something fantastic. I took a few pics while Alistair Tutton worked his magic. We spent a lot of time with Hurst Construction and with Arcways to make...

1232 Residence Update 10

And then there was paint! To say that the paint in this room is subtle would be an understatement. The trim and ceiling is satin and the walls are flat. This slight difference in finish is enough that they appear to be a different color. We replicated the existing shelves on the right with another set. This simplified this corner and provided some more much needed storage space. Here is a view of the desk piece and the...
