Sexton Screen Panels
Following the conclusion of the stair project (check out one of the posts here) We worked with the Sextons to develop an updated landscape plan that better fit the way they use the outdoor space. The adjacent house has a raised brick paver patio that looks directly onto their deck and front door. They sent us a few images of asian art that they liked and we came up with a scale of panel that looked good on site and then we searched around for an image for inspiration.
Because this would be only 2 "colors", and we would need a CAD file for the CNC plasma cutter we ended up redrawing it entirely, scanning this and then tracing it in Adobe Illustrator and exporting it to CAD.
Working with Pascal at Meya Metalworks, we developed a frame design that would be double-sided and as simple as possible.
Since the space between the adjacent patio and the retaining wall is narrow, we wanted a design that would be equally attractive from that side as well. The panels have no finish on them and will naturally weather as time passes. In the picture below the formwork hasn't been removed, but the panels sit on a simple concrete plinth with chamfered edges. We'll post more picture soon.
