1232 Residence Update 2

This project is moving along so quickly we're going to take a little jump up to present day and try to keep up. Exterior framing is getting really close to being wrapped up. We've got a couple more posts to set and then all the sills and screen frame. The chimney and the fireplaces should be framed by the time most people see this. This is the one of the really fun parts of construction. In the course of a...

1232 Residence

A quick update on this project, the floor slab is in and the brick corners are in and look great. Demolition is starting on the house, removing the bumpout at the kitchen to put in the new structural members that will span that new much larger opening. The mason, Rick Roos and Greg from Hurst Construction discuss the new planters that will be added at the screen porch and adjacent to the garage. We just got a project album...

Belvedere Update 12

Another post on the Belvedere Project, they are coming closer together as the project continues to cruise right along. First up we've got a big start on the retaining walls and site work. Below left is a view from what will be the top of the drive down to the lower garages. We are really happy with the profile of the finished roof and the round endcaps on the the end of the ridges.  The retaining wall here steps back...

Belvedere Update 11

Here are just a few images from the Belvedere site from the last site visit. The roof was about 3/4 done, by now I'm sure that its done. Getting some roofing on there makes a huge difference and starts to make the project more real. In this photo you can really see the depth of the roof material and the great shadows it creates. It is a product that we haven't used before, an asphalt coated steel roof, that has some...

New Project Introduction

Another RDM project starts construction! Welcome to the 1232 Residence! We are removing an existing screen porch and expanding the family room and adding a fireplace and a screen porch. We are also remodeling the kitchen and making some changes to an upstairs exercise room.  The rear of the house is oriented around a very large brick paver patio that Rick designed for them back in the 80's. Our addition plays off the series of brick planters and uses that...

I Love My Kitchen

September 15, 2011 By Mindy McDermott, Marketing Advisor * "I love my kitchen." I say this every week if not more often. Even after all these years (10 to be exact). There are so many things to love about it - the unbelievably quiet dish washer, the spice rack in the drawer, the huge pantry with pull-out shelves, a window over the sink, the extra-deep counter tops for plenty of work space. A place for everything and everything in its place is...

Belvedere Update 10

A lovely day for a site visit yesterday, Mike and Rick went out to look at a few things and check up on the progress as the framers finish up. Here is a slightly different view of the house, to the left of the garages there will be a third smaller bay added. This has been left out for now to allow access to the rest of the site. This bay will help to balance out the master suite that extends...

Custom Stair Install 3

It's done! Ok, its not quite done but by the time most of you see this it will be. This stair has turned out better then we could have imagined and the client is ecstatic about the change to the space that happened just by changing the stair. Hurst construction has done another amazing project for us, the fit and finish to this stair is amazing especially considering the modifications that had to be made to the stair as it...

Belvedere Update 9

We've got some roofing felt on now and a few windows installed. The windows in the tower are especially nice to see them in. They are looking great. This is looking up from the center of the main stair. The rafters will be wrapped and a wood ceiling will be install between them spanning the blocking that you can see now. This is the start of the helical stair being constructed on site. A wall is constructed and the layers of plywood...
